For free charting software for US Stocks, you can use Bigcharts. This site offers updated data by refreshing the screen so you can see what's happening throughout the trading day - ideal if you are looking for an entry signal to confirm.

Colin Twiggs at incrediblecharts.com.au offers Free Charting software for Australian Stocks, and also has a great value premium service that offers good charting and powerful search features for US Stocks for around $18 per month.  All the charts used on this site are provided by incrediblecharts.com.au.

Bigcharts system is not as user friendly as incredible charts, but it's free...
